MANILA -- Benhur Luy, the key whistleblower in the alleged P10 billion pork barrel scam, does not remember Janet Lim Napoles and her family being rich before she hired him as his personal assistant in 2002. Luy and Napoles are second cousins. "Hindi po. Ano lang siya, mahirap lang. Kasi yung bahay niya po sa Biñan, Laguna maliit lang po yun eh," he said before the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee hearing on Thursday. "Nung 2002 po, nagulat na lang ako nasa Ayala Alabang na siya," Luy said. Napoles is accused of setting up fake non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to siphon pork barrel funds from lawmakers, who in turn supposedly got huge cuts from the deal. ANC, September 12, 2013
