MANILA - The Department of Public Works and Highways defended Tuesday the P7.8 million budget allotted to replace a flag pole in front of the Rizal Monument in Manila. DPWH-NCR Director Reynaldo Tagudando said the agency is only following a directive from the National Park Development Committee in celebration of Jose Rizal's 150th birth anniversary. Tagudando said the new flag pole will be 150 feet, which is 50 feet longer than the existing pole. He said the new flag pole will be mechanized. Tagudando also said the project underwent public bidding. ANC Headstart, August 28, 2013
