Protesters swarm Downing Street against suspension of UK parliament

Large crowds of protesters gathered outside Downing Street to protest against Boris Johnson's suspension of parliament.

The protest began with hundreds of protesters, but grew to several thousand, according to media reports.

While it is not unusual for a Prime Minister to prorogue parliament at certain times, the length and timing of the latest suspension -- not long before the UK is due to leave the EU -- is seen as an undemocratic 'coup' by protesters.
