Apple to Supply Parts to
Third Party Repair Shops.
The tech giant has been
known for strict policies
regarding repairs.
But now, the company will
allow independent shops
access to official Apple parts.
To better meet our customers' needs, we're making it easier for independent providers across the US to tap into the same resources as our Apple Authorized Service Provider network, Jeff Williams, Apple COO, via 'Inc.'.
In addition, Apple will allow
third party shops access to
training materials that will prepare
them for out-of-warranty services.
Apple's condition is that at
least one technician completes
a free Apple certification program.
That technician will then act
as liaison between Apple
and the independent shop.
iPhone users especially have
long been dissatisfied with
Apple's handling of battery
replacements by third party shops
