Farmers' Almanac Predicting Very Cold Winter for Most of the US. According to the periodical, the coldest temperatures will be reserved for the end of January into the start of February. It adds that "bitterly cold conditions" are in store for parts of the country stretching from the east coast to Colorado. Our extended forecast is calling for yet another freezing, frigid, and frosty winter for two-thirds of the country, Farmers' Almanac editor Peter Geiger, via statement. The Almanac adds that parts of the northern Plains will see frigid temperatures. As will the Great Lakes region, which includes areas in Michigan, Wisconsin and Illinois. Meanwhile, the Northeast is expected to see above-normal precipitation and be colder-than-normal for most of the winter season. The eastern part of the U.S. will also see a big mixture of snow, rain and sleet in the beginning of 2020. There is relief for those in the Pacific Northwest and Southwest, as Farmers' says a normal winter season is expected.
