Iran's foreign minister makes surprise visit to G7 Summit in France

Iran's foreign minister Mohammad Javad Zarif made a surprise visit to the G7 Summit in France on Sunday.
He met with French President Emmanuel Macron and held a joint briefing of German and British officials... to discuss possible ways to salvage the 2015 nuclear deal.
The U.S. withdrew from the agreement last May and has imposed tighter economic sanctions on Iran.
Zarif was invited by Macron as part of his efforts to diffuse tensions between the two countries.
However, a meeting between U.S. President Donald Trump and the Iranian foreign minister did not take place.
