Single-use plastics to be banned in Nepal's Everest region from next year

No single-use plastic will be allowed around Mount Everest...in a bid to cut down on waste left by climbers.
Nepalese authorities announced the new rules on Wednesday.
They said it will "keep the region, Everest and nearby mountains clean long term.
The ban will take effect next year.
As yet, no penalties have been announced for climbers violating the rule.
Authorities recently cleared eleven tons of garbage from the world's highest mountain.
