Emojis Are Now Considered Evidence in Court
  • 5 years ago
The heart eyes emoji could now be the determining factor in putting someone behind bars. Within the first half of 2019, emojis have reportedly
been used as evidence in almost 50 court cases in
the United States. The number is up from 33 cases in 2017 and is projected to be more than the 53 cases in 2018. Some judges dismiss the usage of emojis as evidence due to the lack of context and standard definitions. The small digital illustrations have been used predominantly in sexual harassment cases, but are being increasingly used in workplace cases as well.
