Italy’s Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte to Resign.
Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte announced his resignation in an hour-long speech to the Italian Senate.
Conte was named prime minister in 2018, after the creation of a coalition by the nationalist League and
Five Star Movement.
His speech attacked coalition partner and Interior Minister Matteo Salvini, stating his call for an early election is "irresponsible.".
