China launches first commercial rocket into space

China's first commercial rocket Smart Dragon-1 made its maiden flight at the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in northwest China on August 17, 2019, according to reports in Chinese state media. The rocket, which sent three satellites into orbit, was developed by the China Rocket Co, a unit of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corp.
