Velasquez stops 'Big Foot,' retains title

MANILA, Philippines – UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez made quick work of challenger Antonio “Big Foot” Silva to successfully defend his title belt in the main event of UFC 160 in Las Vegas. Velasquez landed a short right hand on Silva’s chin that dropped the challenger to the canvas. He followed it up with vicious ground-and-pound, and the referee stopped the bout at the 1:21 mark of the first round. It was Velasquez’s first defense of the heavyweight title since he regained it last December by outpointing Junior Dos Santos of Brazil. -- ANC, May 26, 2013
