MANILA, Philippines – Cannes may be renowned for its A-List stars, but this year it has a strong focus on sporting legends, including Muhammad Ali, Jackie Stewart and Pele. “Muhammad Ali’s Greatest Fight” focuses on the case in the American Supreme Court about Ali’s decision not to be drafted into the Vietnam War. The film “Weekend of a Champion” sees Roman Polanski follow long-time friend and former Formula One driver Jackie Stewart around Monaco during the 1971 Grand Prix. Brazilian football legend Pele was also in Cannes, but his film has yet to be made. “Pele” focuses on the footballer’s impoverished youth in Brazil before he led the country to its first ever World Cup victory. -- Mornings @ ANC, May 23, 2013
