MANILA, Philippines – With only days to go until Formula One drivers compete for pole position in the Bahrain Grand Prix, the race has once again sparked controversy in the Gulf island kingdom. Bahraini authorities said they would step up security before hosting the event after a series of explosions, including a gas cylinder blast that set a car ablaze in the Gulf nation’s financial district. Organizers also said they are adding their final touches to hosting the event and promised it would bring positive attention to the country. -- Mornings @ ANC, April 18, 2013
