Azkals off to Maldives after beating Turkmenistan

MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine Azkals have qualified to the main tournament of the AFC Challenge Cup after beating Turkmenistan, 1-0, behind a second-half goal from striker Phil Younghusband.Younghusband scored the lone goal of the match in the 66th minute, allowing the Azkals to top Group E with nine points, while Turkmenistan was at second with six points.The Filipino booters were able to match Turkmenistan’s aggression throughout the match that saw the referees hand out seven yellow cards.Aside from the Philippines, Myanmar, Kyrgyztan, Afghanistan and Palestine have also qualified to the 2014 tournament in Maldives. -- Mornings @ ANC, March 27, 2013
