Jobless rate in July marks highest for same month in 19 years, despite nearly 300,000 new jobs created

South Korea's unemployment rate reached 3-point-9 percent in July, despite the creation of nearly 300-thousand new jobs.
Statistics Korea says on Wednesday, the number of unemployed people last month was around 1-point-1 million,... up almost 60-thousand from a year ago.
That figure also marks the highest level of unemployment for July in 19 years.
The unemployment rate was especially high for people in their 20s and over 60s.
Statistics Korea said the reason the newly created jobs aren't leading to a fall in the unemployment rate is because of more over-60s re-entering the workforce.
