Hong Kong Mass Protests Shut Down Airport As Protest Movement Passes 10th Straight Weekend
  • 5 years ago
Thousands of protestors are flooding Hong Kong’s airport, sparking chaos and leaving all check-ins suspended and dozens of outgoing flights canceled. Protesters blocked security gates, causing passengers to struggle to get in and leaving one of the world’s largest travel hubs at a standstill. Hong Kong’s ongoing protest movement kicked off on June 9, when over 1 million people took to the streets in a peaceful march to protest a bill that would allow suspected criminals in Hong Kong to be extradited to mainland China. Since then, the protests have turned into something bigger. The protest movement passed its 10th straight weekend of demonstrations on Aug. 11 and are still going strong.
