This Nine year old Manipuri girl is crying because the trees which she planted with so much love were being felled and she cannot bear the pain of parting with her beloved trees. The young girl’s love and compassion for nature has stunned many on social media including the chief minister of Manipur.This girl, Valentina Elangbam, took social media by storm after this video went viral, in which the resident of Kakching district was seen crying inconsolably as the trees she planted near the bank of a river that flows by her locality, were being cut down during the cleaning of the riverbank.The girl’s tears touched many hearts online and the video was seen by CM N Biren Singh, who appointed her the brand ambassador for the Chief Minister’s Green Manipur Mission scheme.As per an order issued by the government, Valentina was appointed as the brand ambassador of the scheme for a year. She was also given additional saplings to be planted in her locality.The order says Valentina, the daughter of Elangbam Premkumar Singh, will be part of all such advertisements and campaigns that promote an increase in Manipur’s green cover.Her passion for the environment and the recognition by the state government were welcomed by many online.
