R. Kelly Charged With Two Counts
of Prostitution in Minnesota
.
State Attorney Mike Freeman announced the
new charges against R. Kelly on August 6, at a
press conference in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
The allegations reportedly stem from an incident
that occurred in 2001 between Kelly and an underage
girl, that involved “dancing and sexual contact.”.
A representative for Kim Foxx, Cook County
State Attorney, confirmed that the Minnesota
charges are a result of a tip line call. .
Minnesota’s three-year statute of limitations
has been brought into question, although it will
apparently not bar the prosecution from proceeding.
Because he left the state, the statute doesn’t
[end] until he returns to the state, and there’s
no indication that he’s been in Minnesota for
[a duration of] three years, then we have a case, Mike Freeman, via ‘Variety’.
These new charges follow the more than 20 counts of
sexual misconduct, racketeering, sexual assault and other
charges that Kelly is already facing in Illinois and New York.
While there are more numerous charges in the
Illinois and federal cases, we wanted to make
sure that our victim here in Minneapolis also
receives a measure of justice, Mike Freeman, via ‘Variety’.
