Soccer Player Alejandro Bedoya Calls
for Congress to End Gun Violence.
Alejandro Bedoya, captain for the Philadelphia
Union soccer team, recently took a very public
stand against gun violence in the United States.
While celebrating a goal during an MLS game
against D.C. United, Bedoya grabbed an on-field
microphone and shouted a message to Congress.
Hey Congress, do something now.
End gun violence. Let's go!, Alejandro Bedoya, ESPN.
His outburst comes after two shootings over the
weekend that left 29 dead and even more injured. .
When asked after the game about his actions,
Bedoya said it was a spur-of-the-moment
decision that he felt he had to do. .
I'm not going to sit idly and watch this stuff
happen and not say something. Before I'm an
athlete, before I'm a soccer player, I'm a human

Bedoya went on to say that he doesn’t care
if he faces repercussions for his actions.
