Democratic presidential candidate Beto O'Rourke cut a campaign stop in Las Vegas short on Saturday.
CNN reports O'Rourke returned to his hometown of El Paso, Texas, following early reports of a fatal mass shooting there.
O'Rourke told a Las Vegas labor union forum that the incident shattered any illusion that progress on gun violence is inevitable.
