40 Games of Suspensions Handed Out for Reds-Pirates Brawl The benches-clearing fight between the Pittsburgh Pirates and Cincinnati Reds on Tuesday night has resulted in six players and both managers
receiving suspensions from MLB. Pirates pitcher Keone Kela received the longest suspension of 10 games. Kela threw a pitch near the head of Reds' Derek Dietrich, which started the brawl. In April, Dietrich admired a home run against Cincinnati, which also led to a benches-clearing incident. Pittsburgh's Jose Osuna was suspended five games,
Kyle Crick was banned three games and manager Clint Hurdle was given a two-game suspension. Cincinnati's Amir Garrett was suspended eight games,
Jared Hughes was banned three games and manager David Bell received
a six-game suspension. Yasiel Puig, who was traded to the Cleveland Indians
on Wednesday, received a three-game suspension. All six players have appealed the suspensions and can continue playing until their appeals are heard by MLB.
