Emergency crews are battling to save a damaged dam in the town of Whaley Bridge, Derbyshire.

Footage, filmed on August 2, shows an RAF helicopter carrying aggregate to drop around Toddbrook Reservoir.

The dam wall partially collapsed on Thursday (August 1) afternoon following heavy downpours in the area.

About 1,500 residents have been evacuated from Whaley Bridge as it is feared the dam could collapse and flood the town.

The filmed of the clip told Newsflare: ‘’I live in Whaley bridge, above the dam. Luckily, we haven’t been evacuated but are very concerned for everyone in the village as the prospect of the dam bursting remains.’’
