Britain, France and Germany are urging North Korea to restart talks with the United States.
The European nations also said international sanctions must be fully enforced until the regime fully dismantles its nuclear and missile programs.
Lee Seung-jae reports.
After a closed-door UN Security Council meeting on Thursday regarding North Korea's recent missile launches,... Britain, France and Germany pressed the regime to engage in "meaningful" talks with the United States.

"We're concerned by the launches of ballistic missiles by North Korea in the past few days. We reiterate our condemnation of such launches, which are violations of U.N. Security Council resolutions. We urge North Korea to take concrete steps towards its complete, verifiable and irreversible denuclearization and to engage in meaningful negotiations with the United States as agreed between President Trump and Kim Jong un on 30 June."

Saying the resumption of talks is vital to the eventual dismantlement of North Korea's nuclear and missile programs,... the British envoy also insisted that international sanctions on the regime have to stay and be fully enforced.

" International sanctions need to remain in place and be fully enforced until North Korea's nuclear and ballistic missile programs are dismantled. It's vital that the Security Council shows unity in upholding its resolutions."

The 15-member UN Security Council has consistently tightened sanctions on North Korea since 2006,.. in order to cut off funding for Pyeongyang's weapons programs.
Banned export items include coal, iron, lead, textiles and seafood.
Imports of crude oil and refined petroleum products are not banned, but are strictly capped.
With the North's recent missile launches,... the idea of easing sanctions looks to be off the table,... but it appears the international community still hopes there can be a breakthrough to finally put the Korean Peninsula on the path to denuclearization.
