Rain to stop by noon, heat alerts in southern regions 080119

Good morning. Heavy clouds that dropped rain overnight are moving away but showers are still likely to linger until noon. The weather agency has issued a heavy rain advisory for parts of Gyeoggi-do Province. Southern provinces could see sporadic showers. Have an umbrella handy.

Southern parts of the country and the east coast are dealing with intense heat and temperatures are expected to rise even further with an advisories being upgraded to warnings in more and more areas.

Daegu and Gyeongju will hit 36 and 37 degrees, Seoul will get some relief with a high of 30 degrees.

Upper regions will also have sizzling temperatures starting Friday into next week so get ready for the peak of the summer heat in Korea
