Uber Lays off One Third
of Its Marketing Department According to the company, the layoffs are apart of a new restructuring plan
for brand messaging. Uber, which has 1,200 employees in
its marketing department, adds it
will let go of 400 of them. The layoffs come
a month after Uber said that
Chief Marketing Officer Rebecca Messina would resign. According to CNBC, Uber is planning to
have two senior leaders guide its
new marketing section. One of them is Mike Strickman,
the vice president of
performance marketing. The other one will be
Uber's vice president of global marketing,
a role the company hasn't filled yet. That position will take over business-to-business operations, research, branding and Uber Eats. Strickman, a former TripAdvisor executive, will handle analytics
and performance marketing.
