NFL's Eric Reid Says He Won't Stop National Anthem Kneeling.
The safety, who plays for the
Carolina Panthers, began
protesting during the 2016 season.
Reid participated along with teammate Colin Kaepernick while they were with the San Francisco 49ers.
Both players went on to file a lawsuit against the NFL, claiming their
views were keeping them
from getting contracts.
The lawsuit has since ended with
Reid returning to the field,
but Kaepernick remains unsigned.
In a new interview, Reid says he'll stop protesting
once he sees that police brutality and racial inequality
against African-Americans is being addressed.
If a day comes that I feel like we’ve addressed those issues, and our people aren’t being discriminated against or being killed over traffic violations, then I’ll decide it’s time to stop protesting, Eric Reid, via 'The Charlotte Observer'.
Reid goes on to say that he believes
the issues are getting worse, not better.
It feels like we’re going backwards. You’d like to think we’re past certain things, the way we treat people. I thought we were at a time where you love your neighbor as yourself, Eric Reid, via
'The Charlotte Observer'.
