Man survives plunge into Carribean volcano

MOUNT LIAMUIGA, ST. KITTS & NEVIS — A relaxing, week-long honeymoon nearly turned tragic for an Indiana couple, after a frightening tumble down a Caribbean volcano.
Clay and Acaimie Chastain were climbing up the peak of Mount Liamuiga when hubby decided he wanted a closer look at the lush greenery in the volcano's crater while Acaimie stayed behind, reports the Indianapolis Star.
While climbing down the crater on a rope, it suddenly snapped and sent Clay falling 50 feet down.
He was alive, but the fall had given him a severe concussion, cracked vertebra, skull fracture, and loss of hearing in his right ear.
Acaimie started screaming and immediately went looking for her husband, first finding his phone and the orange bandana he was wearing before finally spotting him. His wife helped him climb out of the crater and the pair then walked the two miles down the mountain, according to a Facebook post by Clay.
Acaimie called 911 when they were halfway down the mountain and paramedics arrived on the scene.
The couple took an air ambulance out of the Carribean island nation and are now back in the U.S. for further treatment, according to a Go Fund Me page for the Chastains.
