Tariffs on imported agricultural products will remain: Official
  • 5 years ago
The South Korean government said on Saturday that the current tariffs on imported agricultural products will remain.
This comes after U.S. President Trump on Friday instructed trade representative Robert Lighthizer to take action so that certain wealthy economies classified as developing countries by the World Trade Organization... do not receive special treatment from the multilateral body.
Trump said some of those countries are receiving unfair, preferential treatment.
South Korea's agriculture ministry released a statement on Saturday saying it was informed by the U.S. that this doesn't mean Seoul will have to change its current tariffs on agriculture imports.
