The Philippine Azkals have reclaimed the 143rd spot in the FIFA world rankings, following their successful run during the Challenge Cup qualifiers last March. The latest FIFA list showed the Philippines moving up two ranks from its 145th ranking last month. The Azkals defeated Cambodia and stiff Challenge Cup competitor Turkmenistan in the tournament qualifiers to emerge as the top team in Group "E". But despite its Challenge Cup qualification, the Philippines remained 12 spots behind 131st ranked Turkmenistan. Cambodia, meanwhile, was ranked 155th.
