Daeseo, hot and humid with chance of passing showers 072319

Today is Daeseo in Korea,... it literally means "big heat" in Korean, so let's see if the weather lives up to that name by checking in with our weather caster Lee Jee-hyun.
She's outside today at the Yongma Waterfall Park in eastern Seoul.
Jee-hyun, it'll still early, but it's already heating up

Good morning. Conn-young, if you remember I was right here at Yongma Waterfall Park last Daeseo, and back then the mercury was nearing 40 degrees Celsius in the afternoon in Seoul...
it was extremely hot… but this summer has been cool by comparison. It's warm and quite humid, but it's bearable, right? But that doesn't mean we'll get relief from the heat today. It will be hotter than yesterday.

A heat wave advisory has been expanded to more areas as most parts of the country will see temperatures nearing 33 degrees Celsius in the afternoon.

Morning lows were 24.8 degrees here in Seoul, most parts are waking up to a warm morning but only few areas had tropical nights.

Highs will stay in the low thirties in most areas with a chance of passing showers in store for central inland regions so have an umbrella handy... just in case.

A monsoonal front will bring heavy rain to the central region tomorrow through the end of the week and will give us some relief from the heat.

For our viewers in Korea, Yongma waterfall operates between 11 am and 6 pm but they run extended hours from the end of July to the end of August until 9 pm. That's all for now, but I will have more updates during our next newscast at ten AM.
