Prostate Cancer Treatment
Linked to Dementia Research has found that androgen deprivation therapy, a prostate cancer drug treatment, is linked to dementia
and Alzheimer’s. The study, conducted by JAMA network, followed over 150,000 men, aged 66 and older. The results showed that men who took ADT were at a
20 percent higher chance of dementia and 14 percent higher chance of Alzheimer’s. The treatment suppresses the hormones
that help spread the cancer. Researchers are encouraging doctors to consider the long-term effects of the treatment before giving it
to patients.
