'Game of Thrones' Sets New Record
for Most Emmy Nominations
The HBO drama set a new record for most
nominations earned in a single year by any
drama series with a total of 32 nominations. The show itself is nominated for outstanding
drama series, competing with shows such as
"This is Us," "Killing Eve" and "Ozark." Kit Harington is nominated for outstanding
lead actor in a drama series against actors such as
Billy Porter, Bob Odenkirk and Jason Bateman. Emilia Clarke is nominated for outstanding
lead actress in a drama series against actresses
such as Viola Davis, Mandy Moore and Sandra Oh. Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Alfie Allen and Peter
Dinklage are all nominated for outstanding
supporting actor in a drama series. Gwendoline Christie, Lena Headey, Sophie
Turner and Maisie William are nominated for
outstanding supporting actress in a drama series. Carice van Houten, who plays Melisandre
on the show, is nominated for outstanding
guest actress in a drama series. ‘Game of Thrones’ also received nominations for
fantasy/sci-fi costumes, hairstyling for a single-
camera series, makeup for a single-camera series, main title design, music composition,
prosthetic makeup, sound editing, sound mixing,
special visual effects, stunt coordination, writing, production design, cinematography
for a single-camera series, casting, creative
achievement in interactive media, and three nominations each for single-camera
picture editing and directing for a drama series.
