FaceApp, the Russian-made mobile software, prompts US privacy concerns

The photo-editing smartphone software called FaceApp is raising privacy concerns over the fact it is Russian-owned and because user data is uploaded to Russian servers.  The app creator’s Russia-based parent company, Wireless Lab, issued a statement to try and dispel worries. But on July 17, 2019, US Senate Minority Leader, Democrat Chuck Schumer called for the Federal Bureau of Investigation to look into the app and related security concerns.
