European Parliament calls on EU to impose more sanctions on Venezuela

Strasbourg (France), Jul 18 (EFE).- The European Parliament (EP) on Thursday urged the European Union (EU) to impose more sanctions against Venezuela for "repression" in the country and the torture and death of Captain Rafael Acosta Arévalo when he was in custody of Venezuelan security forces.
 
The resolution was approved with 455 votes in favor, 85 against and 105 abstentions, reiterates its full support to Juan Guaidó as the legitimate interim president of Venezuela. The European institution also supports the process of transparent elections in the Latin American country that Norway has promoted.
