Bringing out the tickertape,... the U.S. women's national soccer team celebrated their World Cup victory in New York City on Wednesday,... joined by fans tossing confetti and chanting "equal pay".
Their victory cast fresh light on the women team's fight for equal pay with their male counterparts.
If the U.S. men's team won the World Cup, each player would receive ten times as much as their female counterparts were awarded after they lifted the trophy.
The women's team has been fighting for this issue for months.
They filed a lawsuit against the U.S. Soccer Federation in March over unequal pay.
