'Unalienable Rights' Panel Secretary of State
Mike Pompeo unveiled the
new Commission on Monday. Pompeo said the panel will
provide him "an informed

rights in American foreign policy.” Mike Pompeo, Sec. of State, via Politico The panel will consist of
10 members of varying
religious backgrounds, led by
Harvard law professor, Mary Ann Glendon. Glendon is a social conservative
and outspoken anti-abortionist. At the State Department, Glendon said
"basic human rights are misunderstood
by many, manipulated by many, and ignored
by the world’s worst human rights violators." Amnesty International criticized
the panel, saying "it wants to
undermine rights for individuals, as
well as the responsibilities of governments."
