Trump to Move Forward With Controversial Census Question

Trump to Move Forward With
Controversial Census Question President Donald
Trump made the
announcement
via Twitter. The Trump administration has been fighting
for the inclusion of a citizenship question
on the upcoming 2020 Census since April 2019. The Supreme Court ruled
that the Census Bureau
could not move forward
with adding the question. On July 2, Commerce
Secretary Wilbur Ross stated
that the "decennial questionnaires"
would be printed "without the question." Trump's tweet the next day
seemingly contradicts his Commerce
Secretary's prior statement. The president has
reportedly spoken to lawyers
about the possibility of
delaying the 2020 Census. Following Trump's tweet,
a spokesperson for the
Justice Department said
she would "circle back on this."
