Denver to kill wild geese, donate meat to the needy

DENVER — Wild geese are getting to be too much of a pain the butt for Denver Parks and Rec, so they're teaming up with the Department of Agriculture to round 'em up and turn them into chow.

According to the Denver Channel, the city has about 5,000 full-time geese residents, which means doodoo everywhere.

It's not only annoying, but also a health hazard, with geese poop FOWL-ing up the waterways and aggravating algae blooms and E. coli.

Attempts to control the goose population over the years have all failed miserably. The city has tried scare tactics and hazing methods, but not even a Goosinator could chase 'em away.

This latest goose management plan is pretty simple: round up the feathered fiends and just straight up kill 'em- humanely, of course.

Wild Canada geese are protected under the U.S. Migratory Bird Act, but the government has ok-ed the culling of as may as 2,200 birds.

Once the geese are "processed", their meat will be donated to needy families, so it's a win-win situation.

Goose meat is perfectly safe for human consumption, and very tasty. Just ask Hong Kong.

But not everyone is onboard with the new plan, with some saying it seems "kind of intense." Guess that means no roast goose for you.
