Fahmi: I'd expect PAS to be the first to declare assets

Lembah Pantai MP Fahmi Fadzil has called on PAS MPs to declare their assets, a day after the Dewan Rakyat approved a motion compelling its members to do so.

Yesterday, when debating the government's motion, PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man said this was against the Prophet's teachings (hadith Nabi).

"Involving one's wife and children, if we look at Islam, the Prophet teaches (hadith Nabi) that when God gives you possessions, do not declare it to the public as others will be envious.

"The question of the safety of the assets and individuals when we declare (the assets) must be taken into account," he had said.
