Sierra Club Confronted By Tucker Carlson On It's Non-Environmental Left Wing Activism...What Is Their Mission Exactly?
The Sierra Club’s top operative described abortion as an essential tool in protecting the environment from what he said was the the threat of overpopulation. Michael Brune, executive director of the Sierra Club - a left-wing and Democrat-aligned agitation group that postures as an “environmental organization” - joined Fox News Channel’s Tucker Carlson on Thursday to express his organization's political views.
Brune waxed Malthusian while using the term “women’s rights:”

"We believe in empowering women’s rights. We believe that women who have rights and who have the ability to have choice about their reproductive - make their own reproductive choices - will help to produce strong families and will help to protect the environment at the same time. Sierra club is pro-choice.
...

[Abortion] helps to address the number of the people that we have on this planet. We feel that one of the ways in which we can get to a sustainable population is to empower women to make choices about their own families.”

Asked by Carlson if the Sierra Club’s left-wing political advocacy on issues such as abortion, illegal immigration, and border security is beyond its purview as articulated by the organization’s own mission statement, Brune eliminated all political frontiers:

"Part of the Sierra Club's job, our mission is to explore, enjoy, and protect the planet . We don't think that separating some parts of America from others is a good way to do that. The Sierra Club stands to protect the rights of all Americans to have clean air, clean water, and a healthy democracy in order to fight for their rights."

Brune also described foreigners illegally in the country as "Americans" who need a "pathway to citizenship."

On January 14, the Sierra Club issued a statement calling on Americans to “resist” President Donald Trump:

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Today, the Sierra Club is mobilizing its members across the country to join Center for Community Change, United We Dream, SEIU, Planned Parenthood, the Human Rights Campaign and other allies in national-day-of-action rallies to support immigrants and oppose Trump’s xenophobia.

In response, Sierra Club Executive Director Michael Brune released the following statement:

"Trump's administration threatens immigrants, workers, women's health, LGBTQ rights, clean air, clean water, climate safeguards, and so much more. It's more important than ever to show that our diverse movement is united for justice. That's why we are speaking out and showing up in support of immigrants and families threatened by President-elect Trump's hateful promises to deport millions.

The Sierra Club is in total solidarity with immigrants, communities of color, Muslims, women, and all those who may be threatened under a Trump administration. The struggles to protect our communities and our environment cannot be separated. We are proud to take this opportunity to resist xenophobia and speak up for what's right.”
