We heard from President Trump that a short meeting with NK’s Kim Jong-un may take place at the demilitarized zone dividing the two Koreas.
Let me repeat that.
A third get-together between NK’s Kim Jong-un and President Trump will be happening later today at the demilitarized zone also known as the DMZ.
We heard little while ago from President Trump that the final stages for a small meeting is being worked out.
Lets roll back to the moment before a small scale meeting earlier this morning.
"Seeing President Trump's tweet, I felt that flowers of peace are blooming on the Korean Peninsula. If President Trump does shake hands with Chairman Kim Jong-un at the Military Demarcation Line, that alone will be a historically huge event."
"Possibility of meeting Kim Jong-un, Possibility. they want to do it, I want to do it. S Korea want to do it."
So according to Trump, that although the logistics and security for a DMZ meeting with N. Korean leader are complicated -- things are being worked out for a brief meeting with KJU
Something we have also learned -- Koryo Tours, an independent travel company based in Japan that specializes in group tours to North Korea tweeted at around 10-30 this morning that the DMZ is closed to tourists visiting from the North Korean side.
An indication that perhaps security checkups are in the works for the VIPs arriving at the site.
It is likely that the meeting will be in the form of perhaps a three way summit including both leaders of the Koreas and the U.S.
And if that is the case, it’ll will be a first for the three sides.
In a few moments' time here at the top office,.. a joint press conference, initially scheduled at around 1 PM but that might be delayed a bit due to the overall schedule being pushed back a little.
And during that presser,... many are hoping that's when we will be able to have the leaders on tape... confirming a two-way or a three-way summit.
