Trump meets Korean business leaders

1. President Trump has just met with Korean business leaders at the Grand Hyatt hotel in downtown Seoul.
Our business correspondent Kim Hyesung is there at the Grand Hyatt.
Hyesung, tell us who was present at the meeting and what they discussed.

Connyoung, President Trump met with top Korean business executives here at the Hyatt from 10 AM, the meeting lasted for about 40 minutes.
Business representatives from top Korean firms including Samsung Electronics Vice Chairman Lee Jae-yong, SK Group chairman Chey Tae-won and Lotte Group chairman Shin Dong-bin came to the Hyatt... at around 8 to 8:30 AM.
The meeting itself was organized by the U.S. Embassy to South Korea and AMCHAM, the American Chamber of Commerce in Korea, who reportedly asked the Korean companies for their investment data in the U.S...

So the agenda hasn't been released to the public, but Trump likely called on them to increase their investment in the U.S given those companies at the meeting are ones that have invested a lot or have future investment plans.
Samsung Electronics has a semiconductor factory in Texas, SK a battery factory in Georgia, and Lotte Chemical has a plant in Louisiana.
So today's meeting was on increasing investment into the U.S., just as Trump had pushed for investment in his meeting with Japanese business executives last month in Tokyo, especially as President Trump's re-election campaign is underway.
Hyundai Motor Company Vice Chairman Chung Eui-sun was also present at the meeting, and industry watchers say Hyundai probably called for an exemption to Trump's auto tariffs on Korean cars... with the results of the USTR's investigation on autos under Section 232 set to come out this November.

That's all I have for now, back to you Connyoung.

Our Kim Hyesung near the venue of the business leaders' meeting with the visiting U.S. president. Many thanks, Hyesung.
