S. Korea approves gov't plan to provide 50,000 tons of rice to N. Korea for food aid

Seoul's plan to give 50-thousand tons of rice as food assistance to Pyeongyang has been approved... by a South Korean committee comprised of government and civilian panels, dedicated to promoting inter-Korean exchanges.
50-thousand tons of rice will be delivered to the North via the World Food Programme to support over 2 million people.
The government will be spending 23-point-6 million U.S. dollars to get the rice and 12 million dollars to help the organization deliver and distribute it.
The unification ministry says the WFP will be strengthening the monitoring process to ensure the transparency.
