South Korea is taking tougher measures on those who drink and drive from today.
Under the revised traffic law,... drivers caught with blood alcohol levels of zero-point-zero-three percent or higher will have their licenses suspended,... while those with levels of zero-point-zero-five or more will have their licenses revoked.
The Prosecutors' Office will also strengthen punishments for intoxicated drivers,... who could face up to life behind bars for causing fatal accidents.
Those breaching the alcohol limit for a second time will face heavy penalties,... compared to the previous three-strike system.
Police have also launched a two-month nationwide crackdown,... from 10 PM to 4 AM,... in areas where accidents frequently occur.
