U.S. Navy commander says mine used in tanker attack bears "striking resemblance" to Iran's mines

A U.S. Navy explosives expert says the limpet mines used to attack a Japanese-owned oil tanker near the Strait of Hormuz last week bore (quote) "a striking resemblance" to mines used by the Iranian regime.
Commander Sean Kido of the U.S. Navy's 5th Fleet said Wednesday that the damage on the oil tanker was not consistent with an external flying object hitting it,... and is observed to be consistent with a limpet mine attack.
Tehran continues to deny it was behind the June 13th attack on the Japanese tanker.
