KEPCO named preferred bidder to build power plant in Guam

A consortium led by Korea Electric Power Corporation has been named the preferred bidder for a power plant project in Guam.
KEPCO said in a statement... that it's been favored by the Guam Power Authority... to build and operate a gas-fired power plant with an output of 200 megawatts,... as well as a 25 megawatt-capacity energy storage facility.
The project will start in May next year... and construction is scheduled to be completed in October 2022,... after which KEPCO will operate the plant for 25 years.
The company previously signed a contract with Guam in 2017... to build a solar power plant there,... and with the new project,... KEPCO will be responsible for 55 percent of the island territory's energy production.
