Strong earthquake in China’s Sichuan province kills at least a dozen

At least 12 people died and more than a hundred were injured after a strong earthquake hit China’s southwestern province of Sichuan. The magnitude 6.0 earthquake happened late at night on June 17, 2019, near Changning county, about 200km (124 miles) southwest of the city of Chongqing. The US Geological Survey said the quake struck at a fairly shallow depth of 10km (6 miles). Shallow earthquakes tend to cause more damage.
