World population expected to peak at 10.9 billion around 2100: UN Report

The UN predicts that the world population will reach nearly 11 billion by the end of the century, though some countries will likely see their populations shrink.
One reason for the growth, the UN says, is a longer life expectancy, which is projected to rise from the current 72-point-6 years to around 77 years by 2050.
Half of the population growth between now and 2050 is expected to come from just nine countries, including India, Nigeria and Pakistan.
