FBI Releases Files on a 1970s
Case Involving Bigfoot According to the newly released documents, the
short investigation happened in the 1970s. At the time, the agency was sent a letter on the matter by Bigfoot enthusiast
Peter Byrne. Byrne contacted the FBI after sending them
samples of hair and skin that he
was unable to identify. In his letter, Byrne, the director of Oregon's
Bigfoot Information Center and Exhibition,
sought clarification on if tests had occurred
regarding his findings. The agency wrote back, saying an examination of the hair and
skin would take place. It added that the analysis would be
done "in the interest of research
and scientific inquiry." The investigation ended in 1977, but the bigfoot myth remains alive and well
in the U.S.
