Memory chip prices seem set to continue a downward trend.
According to some industry analysts, it could decline even more sharply in the later half of 2019.

Prices of DRAM, a type of memory used in PCs, servers, and mobile devices, are expected to fall more sharply in the later half of this year amid the escalating U.S.-China trade spat.
Global market research company DRAMeXchange said Thursday it forecasts DRAM average selling prices to fall by 10 to 15 percent in the third quarter, down from its previous forecast of a 10 percent decline.
For the fourth quarter, it expects a ten percent decline, much bigger than the two-to-five percent drop previously forecast.
This projection comes amid plunging chip prices in the first half of this year.
The average price of 8-gigabit DDR4 DRAM, a benchmark price for the category, fell six percent on-month to three-point-seven U.S. dollars in May.
That's about half the level of a historic high of 8-point-two dollars recorded last September.
DRAMeXchange said as the U.S. ban on Huawei continues to spread, the Chinese tech company's shipments of smartphone and server products could drop in the next two to three quarters...and that the U.S.-China trade war could potentially lead to global data centers pulling back on capital expenditures, driving down chip demand.
The report added that a price rebound in 2020 is possible, although it's far from a guarantee.
The continued slump in DRAM prices is expected to weigh on Korean exports and the profitability of South Korean chipmakers.
Both Samsung Electronics and SK hynix posted sluggish first-quarter earnings, with profits down 60 percent and 69 percent on-year, respectively, as their revenue from DRAMs and NAND flash chips plunged on falling global demand and chip prices.
